Altar Servers

NEW ALTAR SERVER TRAINING
The Church teaches us that the Mass is the greatest prayer of the
Catholic community.
God’s people gather together at the liturgy to hear and reflect upon
God’s Word, to be fed by the Eucharist, and to be sent forth to live as
disciples of Jesus. Everyone has a part in this prayerful
celebration.
One of the special ways our Catholic children are traditionally invited
to participate in the Mass is through service as an altar server. This
ministry allows our young people to have a very active role in the Mass.
Our children are invited to begin serving when they are strong enough to
handle the book of prayers and carry the candles, usually in the fourth
or fifth grade.
Servers commit themselves to weekly attendance at Mass, to training, and
to faithful service whenever they are scheduled. They should be
available to serve at least 2 of the 3 scheduled Mass times on a
rotating basis.
Training for new altar servers will be on Saturday, October 1, 2011 from
10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
